Borrowed a friends 420D today for moving some dirt around the yard - and the autolevel feature on the bucket is driving me crazy - is there a switch or control am missing? Dropping 1/4 the load while raising with it "compensating". Any help would be appreciated as to set it or turn it off.. ***
There is no way to 'turn it off'. If you have a standard 420D 'single tilt' machine, your bucket tilt during lift is controlled by the large 'coat hanger' bar connected to the bucket and comes down the loader arm. It actuates the hydraulics by the loader tower and slowly tilts (dumps) the bucket to keep the material from coming over the back of the bucket onto the cab. If set correctly, I believe the bucket lip and top bar should be approximately level at full raise. If it's an IT loader, the linkage itself controls the bucket tilt during lift.
The "auto curl" should only be activated when the front bucket control lever is pulled to the left and past the "half-way" limit. Normally there is a slight "notch feel" in the control lever to indicate when you go past a curl and into "auto curl".
