Hi i have a cat 950 wheel loader, serial number 49U302. I am trying to find the year on it and also everything i keep finding is a tree harvester, not sure why its telling me that. Also if someone knows where i can purchase a service manual for it, i can only find different serial prefix manuals. Thank you
49U production started in 1972. I would imagine that your particular machine might have been 72 or 73. Do you have a photo of the S/N plate.?
The plate is missing, that is what is stamped underneath, 49U302
Well let’s see a photo of the stamped number then….. Is it located on the LH side of the front chassis.? How about a photo or two of the machine.
It seems as though the 49U was originally a 950 with a specialist forestry attachment. Your machine may have been retrofitted with a bucket at a later date. See these links.
