I have a friend with one of these dozers. Serial No. is 6U10146. We are chasing a workshop manual and any other info to start the restoration. Dozer is complete.Has a hydraulic blade. Engine is stuck and tracks are rusted. Not sure where to start. Maybe get some diesel into the cylinders and let them soak a bit. Are they a sleeved engine? Any info gratefully received.

Yes, they are a sleeved engine model D315. The 6U is the narrow gauge equivalent of the 7U model. Lots of info and parts out there too. Service manual: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...nkw=caterpillar+d4+6u+service+manual&_sacat=0 Parts book: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...&_nkw=caterpillar+d4+6u+parts+manual&_sacat=0 Engine service manual: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...al.TRS0&_nkw=caterpillar+d315+manual&_sacat=0 You can pull the injectors and put in a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone or your favorite loose juice. Give it a few days or weeks and work the engine back and forth. It all depends on how badly it's stuck but it may have to come apart. You may also want to visit www.acmoc.org

Check out the acmoc site as mentioned above. There are a number of ACMOC chapters in Australia and quite a bunch of enthusists that will be glad to help you out. Hope some are in your area. They have some good shows also.

That's a hell of a heavy hauling truck. What does that dozer weigh? My 931B weighs in at 16K & it looks very light when you stand right beside it. That also has to be one hell of a knuckle boom crane, as well. Those are very good pictures of how a "dead-dozer" gets moved. I was not so fortunate of having that kind of equipment at my disposal when I had to tow / winch / push mine onto a deck over trailer.

It showed 6.5 tonne on the crane. It was lifting that at 4.5 metre reach.
