Well, after a long time looking, my father finally purchased a Cat 416c TLB. It's in good mechanical shape, but there are some things he would like to fix. For example, it's missing the pin that keeps the backhoe from pivoting, the seat cushion is bad, parking brake needs attention, etc. So it's nothing major, but he would like to get them fixed. I am afraid that the little things all added up at a dealer could turn into alot of $$$$$$. Do you know of a good place to look for parts besides the dealer? THANKS!
Somethings are strictly dealer items, but it never hurts to type CAT416C in the Ebay search or Google search engine and see what you come up with. Those options help me out greatly. And on another note pertaining to ebay, if you find a real good price, be sure to check out what that seller is charging for shipping, sometimes they profit off the shipping charges. Good luck.
hi some of these things a machine shop or even you can fix.. like it's missing the pin that keeps the backhoe from pivoting.. im not that famillar with backhoes but isnt this to lock the grapple for loading and moving ect . why not make one,, just measure inside dia and lenth and go to a local machine shop see if they have one layying around about 6 inches or so longer then you need , they always have scrape pieces ... weld a flat round cap to one end with a round or oval loop to the cap and slip pin in and see where hole needs to be in shaft for a bolt or slip pin to hold pin from slipping out........ i know the feeling on buyying parts from dealers and so on ...example a log trailer the pins that lock them in place up and down .. no more then a 1 1/2 in dia shaft18 inches long,, heated and bent in L shape has a half washer welded to it and a section of chain welded to top and to trailer... 125 bucks a piece ..my fix was . 1 1/2 dia 20 foot shaft 120 bucks washers 20 bucks and 25 foot chain was layying around broke into pieces
as for the seat cushion you can get that aftermarket i would think ... as for the cat dealer parts ......this is what i used to do when i worked for a trucking co and rock quarry we had a company called powell trucking & equipment in lynchburg va .. we brought trucks from and other things ,, was across the road from cat dealer and i could get parts thou them 25 % cheaper.... then if i went to cat... and they just walked across road and got them and delivered them to us ,,, call around to some friends ask
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks to all.
Take the seat cushions to a local upholstery shop. Far cheaper and much better quality than OEM or after market. As or the other parts, you can try to find good used pieces at any of a number of heavy equipment scrapyards. What they don't have, you likely would be as well off to just get them at the Cat house.
