some new pics of the truck at work , got them all dolled up for a truck show
couple more
Nice!!! They must really light up nice at night!
They are not the most excellent trucks I have seen. The European trucks is a good competitor I think.
We have a pair of Freightliner Classics that could give your Pete's a run for there money. But still you have some really nice looking trucks.
The old LTL Ford looks out of place with a pair of Pete's :laugh The old Ford can haul just as much just as fast as a Pete and when it was new cost less :thumbsup Its the darn hood on those old LTLs weigh a ton you need a hydraulic tilt on them There is a old LTL 9000 dump in the area now its not as clean as the one you drive but its doing the job its got old 425 Cat power.
Nice looking trucks jimmyjack! Thanks for the pics.:thumbsup
Yeah...there ain't nothing quite as pleasing to the eye as a cabover Mercedes or one of those with the stack on the wrong side, strolling up the boulevard...:naughty
Good job on the polishing project, jimmy. that old LTL looks pretty nice even if it is dwarfed by the 2 real trucks that are present. Where did you show them, in New Haven, Ct. at the P & G Chrome Shop show?
I dont care what anyone says, those are some damn nice trucks, you keep em up nicely!!!
They all look really good. How many man hours does it take to get them "show ready" like that?
chrome i believe trace adkins tells it best "Chrome, get her leg up high on the bumper of my big black Mack truck With a smoke stack pointed towards the sky And mud flaps, you know the kind Chrome,I said hey little girl you sure look nice Do you wanna ride, I won't bite, she climbs inside Says hell no, I want to drive " live by that motto but wheres the chick?!!!:beatsme :naughty :naughty
:falldownlaugh :lmao :thumbsup
I only wish i could keep my trucks that clean. Nice job . :drinkup
They look great Beautiful trucks really.
They were at Berubes chrome shop's show in Bow NH. The P&G show didn't happen this year. The fleet looks great Jimmy:thumbsup :thumbsup
the LTL was the first tri-axle they bought , it was a friend that bought it new and was getting out of driving.. as more money come in the 07 pete was spec'd, then they got the 01 pete. the LTL has been trouble free with just over 500,000 on it ,but it did just have a inframe right before they bought it four years ago we spend the saturday before the show cleaning :Banghead all day(show was sunday) i love the old girl its a 350 cat that the pump has been played with. i can (for the most part) keep up with the 01 pete which as a 475 cat on a hill and can pass the new macks with 427 like they got the brakes on:bouncegri on the same hill. the 07's got a 550 and that not even worth trying
they started with two of these before the txi-axles nothing pretty just gets the job done (barely):deadhorse
That old LS Ford must turn on a dime Most of those set back axle Fords came with 7.8 Power or screaming 318 power. I like driving the old L series Ford they go anywhere because they turn good and they haul just as much as a Kenworth or Pete. One of the truck drivers I know has a 07 Pete Tractor he bought the truck before the emmision motors and the new ugly duckling 389 so he got a 379 with 550 Cat power pulls good. The new Cats are designed for low rpm what is it something like 1250-1300 they want to pull at in top gear. A freind of mine bought a Sterling with 550 Cat power he is still getting used to shifting the truck. You come from a Mack granite with a 12 litre engine to a Cat with enough power to sheer axle shafts. Things have come along ways in 30 years when a 290 Cummins was big power or a 195hp 6/71
Jimmy, was that LTS a former tractor? The wheelbase looks about the same as the Aeromax I drove, which by the way was powered by a Cummins.
yup it was a tractor conversion:throwup it sucks. its a six wheeler with a pusher, its got a cummins ( i can't find a tag) maybe 200 some thing horse with a 7spd and geared way to high:Banghead it 'll do 70 on the highway but it sucks trying to creep around a job. and the truck does turn well thats the only thing it does good
At one time there was quite afew of those old LTS Fords as redimix trucks and they had the pump bumper on it. Orange cancer has taken most of the old Fords off the road the cab rots of of them. FMC made a big mistake giving up the heavy truck line the new Sterlings are no where near what the Louis Fords used to be I do have a question is how do you guys keep the gravel boxes from getting dented up what do you guys haul ? From the pictures it looks like the box sides are in mint shape not even a ripple.
blacktop will not dent a box when it is hot.............................
My first guess would have been blacktop...the paver kind of made it a dead ringer.:bouncegri
:Banghead
:bouncegri
the LTL is pretty dented up, the extended hood pete(07) is only two seasons old and the 01 was a o/o truck who hauled asphalt for one of the big companys in the area. both trucks have 3/4 plywood on the inside of the bodys(easyer to replace the plywood than the dented sides)and the ford gets sent on the crap jobs. and yes the cabs get cancer the LTL is getting it in the doors and floor , the little truck is pretty sound though:beatsme
Actually it was the A1 paving on the door for me.
I honestly jumped over that clue and went on to the next so'sn it didn't cause much friction...:drinkup
You really can't tell that those trucks haul asphalt with the box sides looking so clean. Trucks that do the hauling for the paving company here have stained box sides and you can tell the haul asphalt they are all owner operator trucks and have 15 to 20 owner ops that haul for them. The paving company has been in business since 1956. The one division in this area employs 50 people and does 2 million or more worth of paving each year. To pave some of these subdivisions must be in the 100,000 plus and doing residential driveways for them is pocket change. They did start out as a small company that did driveways and now do everything which is mainly large projects in the 41 million range. We do have the fly by night paving companies that do driveways come in and spread the asphalt thin as they can collect their money and leave. Their trucks are not shiny and nice some of them look like the tar is holding them together.
Sweet pictures. You sure those trucks work?? Lets see some night pics with the lights on, The petes looks so awsome!!!
Sharp looking trucks You did a jam up job on the cleanup.:thumbsup
i'll try and get some pic in the early morning with the lights on,btw all the lights are LEDs:notworthy :notworthy
I know this post is old, but im new here and have just been lookin thru threads. Just wanted to say those petes are puuuurdy...and the L9000 was my favorite truck when i was growin up. Nice fleet :thumbsup
beautiful trucks!
Forget the trucks i like the A-1 paving girls better.... A-1 paving girls and my friend The Boston Bandit...
Verry nice trucks
I think our dozed was in their yard we hauled loam in there all year
The trucks on this thread is really outstanding! If I were the owner of these trucks, I will definitely take care of them very well.
