2001 john deere 250 series 1- Local dealer did somekind of control valve solenoid campaign update and hyd. tank breather due to oil coming out the old breather. Now the boom raise is slower and works the engine.Boom lower is defintely faster than before the updates and doesnt work the engine.Bucket retract is also slower and works the engine.Bucket tilt is faster now and doesnt work the engine.Havent found any restictions as of yet. This one is new to me.Please help any info appreciated!:Banghead

I am confused too ??? ... when you let the boom down it shouldn't work the engine at all ..... the same for the bucket curling out ...... it's pretty much gravity ??? ...are you saying that before it was working the engine to let it down ??? Just curious reading that ......

Customer says boom and bucket worked just fine just that sometimes hyd. oil would come out the hyd. tank breather. At an idle you can hear the engine working in these two directions. The machine is still usable but the customer isnt happy about it.I drove another JD 250 and it works like it should.

Well, if it's really cold you def will hear the engine working in both directions .... way more when you are lifting ..... mine will even stall the machine @ -20 (at dead idle) but who does that and not warm up first ...... if the only problem was the breather puking oil out .....When ? ...was that all the time or when cold ? .... Is that fixed now ? ............. I don't get it ? ....so maybe the customer can't operate the machine off of idle that he's not Happy .... Hmmmm ????

Customer first noticed this problem at an idle. When revved up the boom circuit is not smooth. Found that the JD dealer installed hyd.valve spool lock kit and slightly bent both boom and bucket spools so they stick entering the valve ports. Also found a piece of duct tape stuck in orficed check valve fitting. Was able to remove tape and staigtened both spools. Will install control valve on monday and see if all problems have been solved......Cold oil will affect cycle times but machine was up to operating temp on hyd oil(170 F).JD dealer did solve breather issue.

I don't know who would be at fault for the bent spools ...but take caution that there may be some scored bores as a result of this ...I have never seen where a spool is straightened and is a 100% success (not by-passing) When you are saying customer ? ... are you now doing the repairs to this machine ? .... cause the way I see (if so), is that if this is what happened to your customer they will have NO recourse to go back to the JD Dealer for what was done in error ... if it went in for a routine repair, then they will have to stand behind their actions ????
