jd does not give a spec for glow plugs on this machine. this thing does not want to start when sitting over night in colder weather even though i use the block heater and the engine temp warms up to 85 or 90 degrees. my question is shouldn't it start w/o glow plugs when i get the block upto that temp? i have fuel at the fuel water separator and there is no air in line when i bleed them. appreciate any help thanks
Post the machine serial number and you are more likely to get help. Yes some motors will not start without the glow plugs even in the middle of summer. Do you know how to test them. Simon C
It also needs a certain cranking RPM to start well, which means your battery, cables, and starter should be in good condition.
the serial number is to322177832. thanks
starting system in good shape.
If you go into the monitor when cold, what is the engine temperature read? If it is too high due to a bad sensor, the glow plugs won't light. Has the voltage to the glow plugs been checked? Glow plug fuse checked? Usually, the symptom you describe is the fuel return check valve being faulty allowing the fuel to bleed down creating an air pocket.
