cummins 6bt oil leak

found problem ... how it happened i do not know .. but the screws that hold the seal and bearing housing on front on pump worked loose hell one was between gear and housing.......

    Yep, I think you found a problem. Is there possibly a missing support bracket at the back of the injection pump to control vibration? Just a thought.

    This is a common problem. We see this several times a year. I have seen this happen even with the rear pump support in place and tight. A dab of blue locktite on the seal plate retaining screws cures the problem. Our local pump shop does use loctite on these screws when they reman a pump but pumps we get from Cummins dont have the screws loctited so we do it before a pump install...... Just a FYI.

    thanks atco.. support bracket is there and tight this motor is 2 years old now cummins recon i put in myself..motrack i will look from now on thanks for info... i did locktite them after i replaced the torx screws with allen screws the same lenth....my thing is operater knew it was a big leak the last day didnt say anything til 4 oclock and that was his 6th gallon of oil....when i heard about it i said why isnt it on shop pad now ....it was missing at idle and smoking from blow by pipe ...after the fix it still smokes pretty bad on blow by tube,, idle is better,,,but still good operaters should step up and say i have a problem and need a mech nowwwwwwwwww.. he doesnt have a problem sayying ac doesnt work...thou..........
