D5 Cab Question

HB-RD-Shop ยท 2009-12-24 14:25

Our new D5 has a problem when you try to open the doors. I guess it creates some sort of vacuum in the cab because it is real hard to open them. You have to push in real hard on the door itself and pull on the handle at the same time to get it open. Has anyone else had this problem with their dozer and been able to fix it? Thanks ahead of time. Not a huge problem but a headache when trying to get into it.

It happens on all the newer machines. Make sure the dirt is cleared out of the seals all around the door. Lube the latch up with graphite and that should help a bunch. Good Luck!

Is this the D5K??? we have had a lot of complaints about the differential pressure in the cabs!!. Does it have a sliding glass on the side of it? you need to create some sort of positive pressure in the cab in order to make it equalize. It's a known problem with newer Cat machines. Just my .02 cents.

Im not sure its diff press on my machine.. Think its more of a latch prob. Nothing real bad. Actually im glad that the doors dont rattle !

tight doors on a dozer, that is a good thing!!

Those cabs are not that air tight. Run that dozer awhile in dusty conditions and you will see a little dust getting into the cab. Had the same problem when we first got our D3G new. Eventually the door seals softened up enough and it is not a problem now.

C'mon guys - how could it be air tight? You got robots that don't need oxygen running those things? Hope not, because we'll all be out of a job. Maybe they made a couple submarine issue?

I'm pretty sure it is air because if you push in really hard on the door before trying to open the latch it works fine. And when you push in hard you can tell that you are relieving the pressure against the door.
