D5G WGB02007 Had this dozer for about 10 years. Used it the other day and it was fine. Now when I release the parking brake the P stays lit and the sprocket with the ! Lights up. Used the red light to retrieve the codes and only one is 144. All fluid levels are fine. Park brake set. P illuminated as normal. Parking brake released and P stays lit as well as the sprocket light. Does this whether engine is on or off. Also the engine will start with the parking brake released. How do I troubleshoot this?
A user named CM1995 will chip in as I know he’s had similar issues with the same machine. Those Gs are supposedly super picky on voltage. Potentially an alternator or battery problem.
This doesn't make a lot of sense. 144 is for the Start Relay. When you pulled the Codes did you try to scroll (increment) past the 144 to check if multiple Codes were present.?
Figured out how to scroll through them and for these. Codes 166, 256, 255, 263, 426, 265, 271
OK, so your codes are....... 166 - Fuel Shutoff Valve 256 - Steering Position Sensor 255 - Position Sensor F/N/R 263 - Proportional Solenoid (LH Pump Forward) 426 - Harness Code 265 - Proportional Solenoid (RH Pump Forward) 271 - Proportional Solenoid (RH Pump Reverse) IMO the highlighted Code would be the best place to start. If the ECM cannot get an accurate neutral signal from the direction control the likelihood is that the park brake will not release to protect from sudden machine movement. Unfortunately there are 4 possible modes for this particular Code so I will attach all four. Cat ET is required to carry out final one of the four (sensor calibration procedure) that corresponds to FMI13. I suggest to to go through the other three one at a time and see what if anything you find. It will require a minimum of a DMM. If an electrical schematic would assist please ask.
Another thought........ Do you have any any independent mechanic close to you who could hook up Cat ET and identify exactly which ones out of your list of Codes are Active.? There are a number of people from Texas who post on HEF. With a better idea of your location one or more of them might be able to suggest someone local to you.
