When i am pushing hard for a couple hours i have noticed my transmission temp can get up to and just a little higher than 210 degrees F. Is this ok or should i be a little easier on her? thanks.

210 DegF is 99 DegC. On modern machines the electronic temp alarm goes off at 127 DegC which equates to 260 DegF. I'd say you're pretty good if the temp on yours never goes higher than "around 210". It always pays though to make sure your radiator is really clean and the fan belts/tensioner mechanism are in good order with belts running at the right tension.

I have a D5lgp since new and it always runs at 210. I checked radiator, trans filters, and changed fluid, always same. Runs fine. Nick

You didn't mention what kind of oil you are running, but for most mineral oils the rule of thumb is that the rate of oxidation doubles for every 10°C (18°F) rise in temperature above 75°C (165°F). Because of this, synthetic oils are often required in high temperature applications to prevent rapid oil oxidation. Basically the hotter the oil gets the more frequently you need to change the oil. A good oil analysis program should keep an eye on this. And you have to consider is that the higher temps will slowly take some of the life out of your hoses and seals. NBR is only good for 108-135C, depending on manufacturer and additives. HNBR is a step up and is good for 150-165C. Viton is good for ~205C. ISZ
