Hi guys. As my title says, im having some issues with my dozer. I took it to a job site to start clearing some trees. I noticed it was losing some power, it was late in the day so figured id quit and check it out the nxt morning. Well,,the next morning it wouldnt start. Had the Cat come out and look at it and he was guessing that it had something to do with the fuel, pump, pump gear, shaft ect.. We decided to load it up and haul it to the shop. That evening i pulled the axels and for the hell of it tried to start it. It started rite up! Put the right side axel in just fine, took the plate off the left and oil came pouring out. So we shut the machine off, put the axel in as far as i could, tried starting it so we could wiggle the diff,,,,and it wouldnt start. Pulled it back out and it started. Oil quit pouring out so tried putting it back in while running. Got it almost all the way in, just b4 the last splines and the axel started spinning. It wasnt in gear and the park brake was locked. Anyway..we got it to the shop and had a washer broke laying in the bottom of the trans screen. had the trans pulled and tested and it come back fine. now they have the final drive on the right side out and getting checked out. All in all it seems like Cat really dont have it pinned down just yet on what is the problem. Was wondering if any of you guys have had this happen or heard of it? I will keep yall posted on the progress. Thanks
engine is under load probably because steering control or steer rod under floor bent or misadjusted. this makes steering try to turn when cranking engine since brakes are on it loads pump which puts load on engine and they will not start .
Don't know if PAcattech is correct, but it sounds like the local shop plans to spend your money until they get lucky or you go broke. In the future you need to find a mechanic who understands what "diagnostic" means.
:iagree :exactly Pj
They showed me the washer, it was one of the big washers by the sun gear. Either way the got the dozer up and moving fine again. Chalk this one up as a learning lesson.
Also..should I be worried about my pump now,,im guessin its been being worked alittle harder than it should have been.
When you said stating hard at first i thought you was talking about electril issues not turning over, then you said hard because of pump pressure build up.Confusing! Standing behind the machine on the right side of the machine is where you found your problem,i'm gessing? There is a sun gear there that has a large washer welded to the the gear that breaks off,but can't fall off until the axil is removed,or is completely wore into. There is and updated cage for the sun gears and the main gear that had the washer on it.I thought you said there was a washer in the screen, don't think this would be the same washer because to big the one i'm talking about.Maybe piece? Anyway the right side is for the park brake, the left side is for the diff steer.I have a D6H and that is what i found, but not because of and issue that i could see, just because i was rebearing and sealing the final drive and when we pulled off the final the washer was laying on the lip of the main housing. When the washer goes it puts a lot of iron in the system so you will need to flush things as much as you can or change the oil sooner then you would normally to get it cleaned out.Hopefully the pump didn't have any big piece go through it.If this was a D6R(D6H doesn't have this since is manual shift not elect) you have a lot of trouble with the shift moduler getting plugged with iron then it will burn out one of the cluthes. Good luck
To Constuct'O.....Pretty much everything you said is exactly whats going on. I had several people pointing me in the wrong direction, hence the confusing lol. This is my first time seeking help on a forum....gotta say that I think there are some good people on here and Ill deff be back.. Thanks guys
