d6t s/n- lay1032 breather leaking oil

High hef. Looking for some ideas. Got to the dozer low on power / leaking Trans oil out breather Trans filter been bypassing for 23 hours .low fuel pressure last 4 hours. So changed fuel filters. Trans filter plugged so I installed new filter and put 5 gals of oil in trans. Torque converter and Trans overhauled 25 hours ago. Vent lines from breather tees in to line from torque converter at bevel gear case. Small chunk of maroon rubber restrictING vent line. At idle oil runs out line from torque converter low pressure but steady stream. Seems passage to bevel gear case won't flow all the oil from torque pushing it out breather. Does this mean torque converter not draining causing torque to vent a stream of oil instead of pressure? First thing tomorrow I'm going to pull suction lines and strainers. Any ideas much appreciated

If the torque and trans were overhauled 25 hrs ago and the filter has been bypassing for 23 hrs, that means it plugged the filter in 2 hrs. Unless the filter wasn't changed. Sounds like the torque converter is messed up to me. Especially if you found debris in the vent tube.

We overhauled they installed so not known how well they cleaned and what was changed as far as filters we recommend cleaning flushing lines and new transmission pump. So got to start from scratch in am. I'm just hoping they didn't trash torque by not cleaning and running machine for 25 hours with bypassing filter.

I hope you told them in writing what needed to be done before installing rebuilt trans. and torque! If not then they can say the problem is yours because you failed to inform them of what was needed. Why was the machine not shut down the second the filter went into bypass!??? All lines to and from the trans or converter need to be cleaned if not replaced. Filter housing cleaned and new filter installed, possibly a flushing filter if one is available for the application. Oil cooler needs to be at bare minimum flushed and preferably replaced with new. Next if there was any trash found anywhere in the system from a failure then filters should have been removed after running enough to warm up oil and check pressures then cut open to inspect for trash in it. Then this should be repeated till it comes out clean.

No only verbal discusson with shop Forman and head mechanic they said they would get new pump, said where cooler would be cleaned at and talked about cleaning lines and bevel gear housing. They seem to dismiss lights. They seen filter bypass code so installed new sensor. But filter was plugged and continued to operate. Looking through info looks like problem could lie in scavenging system hopefully just plugged scavengen screen. I'm going to clean system and start from scratch. I think I learned a lot from this job

Well I would be very careful around this customer! Hope the check clears. People like this is one reason I would not want to work on my own fixing equipment. They sound like the kid of people who if you replaced a taillight on a machine then a week later the tilt cylinder starts leaking they say it's your fault as you were the last one to work on the machine! Good luck, you will need it with these customers!

So they are not mechanics just parts changers.

Update scavengen line from torque was totally blocked. cleaned screen and suction strainer. It had almost 15 gals of oil. After cleaning ran it got more rubber. so i started to pull converter. Only got about a gallon of oil from torque with out scavengen line plugged. looks like they might have ripped the damper o ring on front of converter

Glad you got it sorted out.
