heres a few pics of a D9H that my old boss bought thinking he could do it up cheap, been sitting in the side of the hill for about 10 years with no heads on the motor, still an impressive little operation though (all the pics are off a mobile phone)
a few more
last few
I don't know about your boss but I sure don't see anything cheap about that operation. LOL. Nice pics.
no, i think that it was very expensive to have the crane and float there for close to 7 hrs
I suppose it depends on what He paid for it and how it all turned out in the wash, do you know Marty how He ended up ??
Dang, your cell phone takes better pics than my camera...guess I need an upgrade. Hope it's only an engine project...might come out ok if that's all it needs. (there's never only one problem though)
i know it was gunna cost him bout $3500 a pot, plus all the hydrolic rams, i spent 4 hours just polishing the rams the day before just to get the rust off them
i quit soon after this, and i still drive past his farm a fair bit, and its still sitting in the same spot, been close to 9 months now
Why not get the motor running and run er? would have been cheaper then the crane operation maybe.
D9g thre is a D 9 G north of here that may be in the same boat, has no power to move , starts and runs but not good , They had thought it was injector blowby but were taking the sump off to have a look at the bottom end , expensive suckers
He is looking at a pile of money to do the engine. Are the heads there? or gone? Going to need sleeve kits, mains and rod bearings, pray he does not have to grind the crank but it would not surprise me that is stuck from setting with the heads off, cam shaft? Injector pump, who knows. The pads look like they are junk and no doubt the rail is shot. Could spend upwards of $ 50,000.00 on this one plus the retrevial costs. Good luck with the big ol girl.
Like Greg said, I can see way past 50K to get it going, and that is not counting the retrieval, or the purchase. Don't sound like a good deal at all when you can buy one running here for 40 to 50K. I wish him luck
it would of been difficult, it was 50km away from the workshop
there was one new head, that had been sitting with it for 3yrs and the other head had a suspected crack in it, i don't know how he went with it
you find em here in aus for around the 90 mark if they are running or up to 120k if they are the later models that are in good nic. can't really find em though i've only spotted 2 for sale in the last yr or so over the net
Hey is that Mt Canobolas in your images? I'd say it is and 'Old Man Canobolas' down the back too, I'm just North by 60Km. That Blayney crane is a nice unit, could be involved with wind farms? Yes have seen a few 9's cheaper than 7's but any gear in Australia comes at a premium as mining inflates everything like crazy in my Shire. Rented 4br houses are up to $1250 AUD per week - mad stuff.
no where near mt canobolas, bout 60km south of forbes on the jemelong range
Where is the machine now at?
