Dealing with a dealer?

We took one of our trucks with a C15 to the dealer because it kept dying. They've had it for two days and their service manager say's "we're at a dead end". They ordered a transfer pump and are going to try that but I know they could have pressure tested the one on the truck. The "dead end" has got me worried. I've never been in this situation and wonder what's going to happen if the new transfer pump doesn't fix it. What do you do if a dealer can't fix one of their own trucks?

Ask the dealer if they checked all the grounds for possible intermittent connections. A poor ground connection can cause hovac with the computer and end up shutting down the engine. They should know where they are all located. There are a number of signal feeds to the computer that could shut it down if the ground was intermittent. Did they read the computer trouble codes and if so, what codes showed up. If something showed up, I would check the ground for that circuit first.

Not the same truck as yours probably and with a different Cat engine but I've had this happen twice. There is a main battery feed to the computer that is always on. In our truck this went right to the battery harness. This wire failed inside the insulation. This was not near an end and there was no cut or puncture of the insulation whatsoever. Only found it by testing continuity on the job when the engine stalled.

Hi ! We had a problem with bad (ground & short) (not known by the dealer at the time) that blew a computer , dealer said computer is blown ! so you need a new one !!!! yeah right, my boss said WHY the computer blew ??? dealer says we're no sure !!! ok fine new computer = 5 gran !!! wow my boss said if you put a new computer and it blows again who will pay for the repair again ??? dealer said : you (my boss) ,then my boss said FIND THE GOD... problem and m,ake sure you don't put any new parts without testing !!! after a week of testing they found a short INSIDE a wire harness !!! so as soon as the new computer would have been in it would of blown again !!! cost = $8,500 total repair !!! is my boss happy : NO I know this is not happening all the time but yes it is scary when dealer says DEAD END !!!
