Deere 240LC working great then its like it just ran out of diesel. Filled tank again and drained the drains but it seems to have lost prime. Any ideas

Did it run out of fuel? Is it a stanadyne rotary injection pump? or what? If you ran out of fuel, then you'll want to prime the system through to the injection pump, the pump should bleed the air out of itself once it gets fuel to it. If it doesn't start quickly, you'll want to loosen a couple of injector line nuts at the injector, just a half or full turn, and crank until fuel squirts out with no bubbles, then tighten and it should start.

No it was a full tank working great for about a hour then i lifted and dumped a bucket it sounded like the engine slowed down and then it just shut off. Fired it back up no knocking etc so not engine but it wont keep runnign.

Welcome to HEF Kotyjo . I assume a 240DLC ? .Post a machine serial number. You haven’t mentioned any indicator lights or alarms going off so we can assume no engine service codes are being generated. I would suspect a restriction or a suction leak in the fuel line / fittings between the tank and the transfer pump or a weak transfer pump. At cranking speed I would expect that fuel transfer pump would put out 2-3 psi.

yes no codes came up it was working great then all of a sudden loss of power and no diesel is what im thinking. Drained filters and now wont fill probably transfer pump?

Without knowing what it is, or serial number, I'm guessing. Dying while running with plenty of fuel in the tank, then restarting after a while with nothing else done, then dying again in shorter intervals, is classic plugged return fitting on a stanadyne pump, but if you don't have that pump then it won't be that.
