I am resealing the lift cylinders on my 550 and on the left side I found the gland has a crack from the outside threads to the inside where the wiper seal bore is. Do we think I can reuse it without it leaking oil out or water in. Or without it continuing to crack in half? I have attached some photos.
That crack is going to spread when attempting to tighten the outer gland nut, better replace the gland. Under normal conditions that portion of the gland doesn’t carry any significant load so hard to say where the external forces originated to create the crack initially.
I would be searching for a replacement, more so water cant get in......
