i have recently measured the diesel consumption of my new EC210b prime volvo excavator..the consumption is 13-14liters per hour in heavy digging.... but in comparison my unit of hitachi EX200-2(an old model unit of excavator) consumed an awesome 8-9liters per hour in continous heavy digging.. i dont know whats the explanation in this..but i definitely sure that this is not a phenomena but rather an engine performance:beatsme... deutz vs isuzu bd series..
What about tons/yards per hour moved? The 210 has about 8% more net hp.
hi lumberjack yes i agree..in regards to power,,it seems that the brand new is the winner..but i just test it in ordinary earth material...same liter i put both in thier tanks,but it seems that the Hitachi EX200-2 got a longer hour to do the task....:crazy

8-9 liters/hr seems too low for "heavy digging" wth that big of machine. Our Zx210-5 has a historical average of 14.3 liters/hr and in "high load" applications can average up to 26 liters/hr.
The bucket on that Volvo looks awfully clean for having been used in "heavy digging". Do you paint them after each use?????? I agree 8-9 liters seems very low for heavy digging. Sounds fishy to me.
hi sir :waving:waving @deeretrucks thanks for giving some feed:salute:salute, i test the 2 unit (appear in pix above)in excavating and stockpilling of garden soil(light material)..may be its not appropriate to use the word"heavy digging"coz what i really try to imply is "hour of continous machine work... @Ben Witter:salute:salute the picture above (volvo)was taken at the distributor yard..prior to the delivery of the machine to our site the test conduct in a way that we fill both tanks of 200lts of diesel..then simultaniously do their job(excavating and stockpiling)while counting the number of hours rendered of each machine..both wer in auto idle (volvo mostly in G2 mode) while Hitch is in Economy mode)...:beatsme
In heavy use, I can burn 4 liters an hour in my 13klb mini excavator.
