Evening members,i need your input on a steering issue, the dozer was steering only when under load but without it couldn't,we have taken the steering system apart, the friction plates are fine and the only issue we found was a broken seal that goes around the piston thats pushed to disengage the clutches,so we put everything back together and another issue arises, the right track will disengage well and turn to the right but on pulling the left lever, both tracks stop instead of turning to the left,so my question is,can the clutch packs be deemed too tightly assembled such that they don't disengage when the lever is pulled back or what could be the issue, the second picture with two long bolts is holding the piston that disengages, should it flash with drum holding it or some mm below it, regards
Some information about the dozer might be useful. What make is it, what model, etc.? Did the problem start suddenly or did it slowly develop over some time.?
This is a Chinese model, copy pasted from the older CAT models, likes of D6h,the problem has been gradual untill one track couldn't turn all together.
Interesting bit of Kit John, I have never worked on 1 of these chap, it looks like you have to pull a lever and press a brake peddle to turn? and those 2 cable controls work the steering valves, this might sound daft but did you plumb in a pressure gauge to any part of the system to see the oil control, the elbow by your wrist in the picture looks to have a test port for the left side, so it would be fair to see a test point on the right side the same, 2 gauges 0-600 psi would be handy. tctractors
