Dual Tandem Gooseneck Advice – 25ft vs 30 ft ??? Please Help…

I am looking for a dual tandem gooseneck trailer with a popup beavertail and ramps to haul a 15,500 lb backhoe with my Dodge dually. Some respectable operators tell me to get a 19 or 20ft deck +5ft beavertail and others tell me to get a 24 or 25ft deck +5ft beavertail? Some favor the shorter trailer due to better maneuverability and lower empty weight/higher useful load. Others favor the longer trailer due to better tracking at highway speeds and better control of tongue weight due to a longer deck. I am confused... Can anyone please give me the cut to the chase conventional wisdom on which trailer works best? Thank You

There is a separate forum here for questions about moving equipment. You might get a quicker answer over there. I would be more concerned about where the wheels were on the trailer and how the load was balanced than the length of the trailer. The empty weight is also a key concern. If you go over weight it could get expensive and dangerous. Read about the requirements for a CDL and DOT number. Your state may have picky rules, don't learn the hard way.

We try to keep the same topic in one thread because the same question/topic in two different areas of the Forum creates confusion. I am going to close this thread. Please post to this thread - HeavyEquipmentForums Best of luck with your trailer purchase.
