These are the new machines we just finished working on. Sold 7 of them to CSX Rail maitenence. Runs a ProMac rotary disk brush cutter. Had to add a powerpack on the back in place of the counter weight, and added a rail syster so it could drive on the rails.

Looks like it could be more useful than what UP is using(Geismar 360). But why not just go with a 200 class machine that will straddle the rails?

you dont need to straddle the rails, you can work while its highrailed. goes 10 mph while working, and 30 mph when just traveling, you could never get that speed outta the grouser pads. We are building another one right now though, same machine just we hacked out the under frame and widened it so that you can straddle the rails. A 200 class would be alot more weight then we wanted. And alot more money.

That kind of speed would be nice moving down the rail. Would it be possible to temporarily remove the Hi-rail system if you needed to work off the side of the track? Also are there any plans for other attachments? UP had a 200 class that had a undercutter(not very effecient) tamper, and a tie changing head.

the hi-rail system is on hydraulics, so within 30 seconds you can lift the hi-rail system and sit on the grouser pads and work on the ground... only downfall is you need a level crossing to get on and off because of clearence issues. The machine we are working on right now we are fitting with an undercutter from BTI and will have a bucket for ditching as well.

Not sure if the undercutter that they have is made by Geismar or not. Seems like of the three that I have been around, the smaller they are the more you have to cater to them. and thats not much fun to sit in the line of fire of that rock slinging S*B . Makes it interesting trying to keep your windows in one piece. Otherwise it looks like a nice machine.

no the undercutter we got is made my (BTI Balast Tools Incorporated) the windows have lexan window guards on

Looks great...Do the wheels detach as well?

wheels dont detach, they are on hydraulics and lift up though... The machine can be used on rail of off rail on the grouser pads if needed as well. You can put anything on the stick to, bucket, graple, magnet, you name it.
