Greetings all, My father and I are trying to locate some parts for a 1983(ish) Fiat-Allis FD5. I'll include some pictures so you can see the current state of things, along with the badly worn side tilt assembly, and Dozer Serial Number Plate. From what I understand, the Side Tilt Ram Assembly is damaged beyond repair, and my father is trying to mill a new one but, to have an OEM one, or even a refurbished one would greatly expedite repairs. This dozer is CRITICAL to our farm, and having it fully operational is a must. If anyone could give us pointers, or, if you happen to have one, that would be fantastic. Thank you. Respectfuly, Aaron J.
You could check on Machinery Trader under dismantled machines for a used one. I'm not exactly sure which cylinder you're talking about. Is there another cylinder the same on the other side? If so a good hyd. shop could make a replacement. What all is wrong with the cylinder? Parts of it like the rod or barrel may be reusable that would save you some money.
So from the looks of the current cylinder (there is only one, as it's located in the center, behind the blade), the chrome is extremely worn and the cylinder is severely pitted, causing the o-rings to not seal, and hyd fluid leaking. The solid shaft you see in the original picture is a brand new one my dad bought, as will be attempting to machine a brand new ram himself, using specs from the shop guide, but id we could get a brand new (refurbished) assembly, that would be ideal.
The barrel is extremely pitted? A good hyd. or machine shop could make a new barrel and/or rod. It's possible you might be able to find a commercially available cylinder that could be modified to work. The good thing is you have a cylinder you can get all the correct dimension from.
