Just wondering if anyone got experience of welding new tips onto a 5 tine scrap grab. Tips are manganese cast would dis-similar electrodes, of would I need look for something closer to the manganese-based material that I'm looking for weld. Any advise welcome.
Get some nickle/manganese rod, use plenty of preheat, with an air chipper peen every pass very well. Bring postheat down slow. If possible try to make all welds flat as this stuff will run easily in vertical/ horizontal. Mike
I've never had or seen a problem using 7018 and multi pass welds. Just pre and post heat as ol'stonebreaker says. Most of those types of attachments have some kind of pin on tips. Is there something different in your attachment?
