I’m trying to find someone to manage our fleet of equipment about 180 pieces. Is that to much for 1 person to manage does that same person manage the 4 mechanics also? Just trying to figure this out any help would be greatly appreciated
What type of equipment are you talking about? or is this a spam berger.
We have excavators Komatsu Volvo and cat. We have John Deere cat and Komatsu dozers. We have Terex cat and John Deere 30 ton trucks and multiple different pieces for whatever we are a site developer We have Mack dump trucks and road tractors

Does that include on-highway trucks and DOT compliance?
It doesn't sound like you have defined the scope of what that manager needs to manage. Are they handling operations and scheduling alone or that plus the maintenance and repairs? Are they in charge of purchase and disposal of all assets? Will they be handling employee hiring and terminations? What about environmental issues? Will they work with a safety manager or have to handle all that on their own? If they only need to be concerned with keeping the iron running, can one of your mechanics be elevated to those duties? Are they in charge of fuels and lubes? What type of facilities are already in place? Biggest question of all concerns budgeting. How much do you expect to pay this manager? Keep in mind there will be other costs involved. Will it be salaried or hourly? Will it include a car or truck or some type of mileage compensation on a personal vehicle? What about a phone and computer? I could go on but I think there is enough here to grind on for a start. Send me a PM if you would like to discuss it more.
Oh boy. Like John said you need to define the variables. Age of equipment or lease, are your trying to make a profit off equipment maintenance, other mechanics already employeed, are you willing to listen to the mechanics. Personally sounds like a dumpster fire
