A 6BTA 5.9- C cummins engine (SN:21231240) mounted on komatsu PC240-6 What should be the timing BTDC? It is not written on the plate on the side of the engine The fuel pump is VE type : 0 460 426 151 R 373-5 Any info?
If its a Bosch VE pump, the timing is set AT TDC with the pin under the pump & the timing offset is in the pump.. is THAT what your looking for?? the lock timing spec for the pump..
To install the pump we should do it at number one cylinder at TDC using the timing pin just below the fuel pump. But in general the fuel pump should start to inject at a certain degree BTDC, even if the timing will change at higher RPM. On the plate on the side of the engine usually they give the BTDC value in degree on almost all cummins engine, just above the valve lash adjustment. On this particular engine they give kind of plunger in mm as shown below. Is it the stroke the piston should do to reach TDC? By the way is there a prestroke adjustment for this pump, regards
Does the CPL give information about std value of the engine
The pin under the PUMP is TDC.. The values on the TAG is the PUMP TIMING.. 1.85mm outlet #1 which should be marked w/ a dash/line on the mounting spigot by the drive shaft.. The keyway should be inline or close to that dash/line for #1 cylinder on the pump. Then a tool/dial indicator is inserted in the back of the pump set to 0 at base circle & rotated in the direction of rotation until a PLUNGER LIFT of 1.85mm is found & the pump locking bolt is tightened..
