Gehl 5635 out of fuel?

stevejeri ยท 2014-10-26 07:54

I thought my son ran our diesel out of fuel, so he put some in it, and I tried to bleed the lines, but no fuel comes out of the injector pumps to go to the injectors. I loosened the line going into the injector pump, and fuel came out there when cranked, but nothing up to the injectors. Any ideas? It cranks with starting fluid, but not getting fuel.

Yes running and quit. It will start with starting fluid but won't continue to run

Is it a Deutz f1011 air cold model. ...maybe a blender screw top or top side of pump.

There is a fuel pump that has a screen in it that can get clogged on the 5635. Easy enough to check it by unscrewing the cover and pulling it out...there is a small O ring that seals it so make sure you are careful not to drop it. After that I'd start at the backside of the fuel filter and crack a hose while someone cranks to see how much quantity of fuel you are getting. Then work your way to the pumps verifying you're getting a good amount of fuel. Might be air locked pretty good.

At the risk of sounding like a total moron, filled it up totally with fuel, (has 19 gal tank and we put in about 16) cranked it a little, my son said,"'when it died it seemed like electrical thing because it just quit all of a sudden." So I looked at the breakers by the key and one of them was tripped. Pushed it back in and it fired right up. Don't know why it tripped, but that was the problem. He was just driving it back to the house when it tripped.
