Do any modern Cat Diesel Engines use Glow plugs?
I'm not aware of any with glow plugs since Cat went to direct injection engines. The old precombustion chamber engines with direct electric starters had glow plugs. Mike
Air intake pre-heaters (basically a glow plug for your intake manifold) or ether injection. Should find out if they have a pre-heater before you use your can of ether on the air intake or your morning could get very exciting! (who needs coffee anyways, real men go for the burnt eyebrow wake up)
Most of the newer cat engines have Automatic either injection that is controlled the the engine ECM. If the ECM sees that the ambient air temperature is low enough it automatically injects either starting fluid into the engine to help the engine start easier.
