Looking at a bobcat 743 has 35hp kubota motor. Newer tires 2500 hrs... Come with 60" bucket and forks. Whats a fair price?
depends on condition but most of them go for like 5 to 7k check the boom good for cracks if its not welded up yet
okay thanks im going here in a few hours to look at it and hopefully bring it home.. he said new tires battery alternator starter waterpump and a few new hoses. He did say that the front cylinder that dumps bucket has a leaky seal. any input on that would be helpful.
CHeck the shiney part for damage if there is no damage it just needs seals
Okay thanksi attached a screenshot. . So u guys think 6k is a good price for thismachine?
looks decent boom has been patched I cant tell if its worth it with out seeing it in person. I bought a newer bigger machine for 6k not to long ago
Well its in the driveway...lol when in idle it wants to drift backwards any info on that?
Linkage...hopefullly external
We had several of those over the years, they all crept very annoyingly and badly all the time. Once and a while we would go in and adjust them but mostly we just lived with it or shut off the engine.
That looks cleaner than I was expecting. Is $6k where you settled in price? Not to shabby! 35hp is a nice size where you can get into tighter places than the big machines. Easy to haul around, but strong enough to do some good work.
Looks pretty good One thing to check... check the gear oil in the chain case, these can get water in them pretty easily also the axle seals can go bad and leak... when it stops leaking is bad news it usually means lot too long before you break a chain and possibly more! the creeping fix is more than likely readjusting the linkage and possibly some new parts, one of the bobcat experts on here has a great thread on how to adjust this... and plenty of other great threads on these machines Also adjusting and fixing the parking brake if it needs it, not only for convenience but for safety!
Thanks. Appreciate all the help... I didnt get a chance to get it off the trailer yet. Im gonna mess around with it tiday. Im sure ill be back on with more questions lol
Looks like a nice machine, I had a 732 for many years, my son has it now, it has over 8000 hrs on it, it's a little tank. Spent a lot of the time driving around on the front wheels because we always asked too much of it, but it never quits!!
As far as price a 743 just popped up here advertised as "needing tlc" for $4500. It still sold in about two days.
they sure hold their value
ok. well i ran it the other day...everything seems to work. how well? idk i never ran a new one.. i didnt expect much compared to the cat i had a while ago. a few questiions. i pulled front cylinder to replace seals....hydro fluid pouring out.. now when the machine warmed up hydros seems to whine and didnt want to lift the bucket??? i figured the hydro fluid pouring out of cylinder was maybe the cause?? maybe low on hydro fluid? my seals will be here in a few days. also i read alot of forums and i know this is a frequently asked ? on here. Flushing hydro system... my fluid is milky and i want to do it right... my plan was to turn machine on and operate front bucket with cylinder offf at low idle to push most fluid out??. from what i read there is no drain plug. also what fluid to use? i would like to run same fluid in everything...heard mixed review on engine oil in hydro system. was going to use rotellla 15 40. in engine hydro and chain case.
bobcat no longer recommends eng oil in the hyd system. oil "formulas" have changed since that machine was built back in the '80's. bobcat recommends hyd oil in the chaincase. (but any oil is better than no oil) chaincase capacity is approx 10 gallons as far as your creeping problem, the "repair creeping bobcat" thread is for later model machines, your 743 has a different system. some steering parts for the early 40 series machines are NLA, and will have to be upgraded to later 40 series parts.
One thing you should know is never run the hydraulic pumps low or without fluid it's the quickest way to scrap them. If you really want to 'flush' the hydraulic system you need to start disconnecting hoses and draining that way, cylinders can be tricky when still on the machine because you have to move the rod to get the other side empty. Once fluid is contaminated it can take a few oil changes to get it cleaner... however most fluids can handle a small amount of water. I have never been an advocate of mixing fluids but in some cases it really doesn't do much harm.
any hydro fluid they recommend? i went to napa and got 5 gallon of there r and o hyrdo fluid. guess ill need two more buckets if this is a good fluid to use?
