We have a Hamm 3412 roller that has been out on hire for a couple of years. It came back with a surging when tramming problem and obviously it was working fine when they loaded it on the float to return it, liars. Compactor vibration works fine and no problems with drive when operating. Starts to surge when about half trammoing speed and gets progressively worse. I am guessing that it has two pumps (compacting and drive) which sort of fits with the symptoms. I am suspecting a charge pump issue with the drive pump/motor but it could also be speed sensor or some other electronic issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Roller has no work scheduled for it and I am retired so urgency doesn't exist any more.
