Hammer for mini

90plow · 2007-08-15 21:54

Well after a 10 hour day of jackhammering by hand we're looking to add a hydrualic hammer to our smallest machine. Its plumbed for the hammer to the end of the stick and has the pedal for it in the cab. What size hammer can I run on this machine? Its roughly 7k lbs. its a 2001 New Holland Ec 35 excavator. -Eric

Call the dealer and ask what they recommend. I think a 500 lb hammer pm if your intrested in a new hammer i can recommend a good dealer here in north jersey. I bought a 4000 lb hammer for my machine from them.

    I have a bobcat B 950 breaker for my 334/S185, it’s rated at 500 ft lbs. I also have a Stanley MB 250 rated 300 ft lbs.

A 500 pound pound hammer would be max on that size mini. What you want to look for is matching the gpm of your aux. hyd. with whatever hammer you chose. That is the biggest issue. If you get hammer that needs more oil than your machine generates you will be unhappy with the performance. I have run Stanley breakers and currently have an Okada. The Okada is a very good hammer.

be carfull on this suject when matching a new hammer make sure your aux peddel is plumbed for hammer if only for auger it will not let oil back to tank quick enough this can distroy your hyd oil and pumps some things u need too match oil flow ;releif preasures ;back preasures remember hammers are harder on hyd oil and filters should be replaced at 50% intervilles as they put more stess on oil +filters be carful taking it off and on for dirt entering hyd sytem [contamination] when hammer is not in use cap +plug hoses both machine +hammer make sure pick is pushed into hammer preventing condensation build up over time not in use // try to store hammer in up right this closes hammer piston and bore from rusting if u can install return filter to this install cheeres got to go find a hammer my pet kangoroo is my chickins

You might get a better response if you post this in the mini section, but this is not a purchase you want to make based on internet advice/speculation. Go to your dealer and ask them what unit is sized to match your machine. This does not mean you have to buy from them but it will give you the most accurate information concerning your machine. When you have the specs of the breaker -weight, pressure and pump flow requirements, you can do some comparative shopping with other vendors.

mrexfix By this do you mean that the breaker point should be pushed in when the hammer is not in use?

    Try this out. http://www.alliedcp.com/products/sizing.asp

no the hammer point should be push in when in storage reason for this is to reduce area of air space in piston bore witch will reduce the amount of condensation preventing corosion will also reduce contamanation entering your hyd sytem

How do you figure out the size of the breaker for the machine?
