HBM now comes with a small type grader. Weight is 6.5 ton, engine is a Cummins 55 KW blade width 2.5 mtr. Grader is equipped with joystick controls.
Hmm that is wierd to see the wings used like that in the grading most of the guys I worked with would just angle the blade to handle the slough. That solid beam design is interesting as well. How does it handle the addition of hydraulics for say a scarifier set-up?
http://www.championmotorgraders.us/images/gallery images/C66B-CMG_DSC00017.JPG Now that 4x4 is interesting, and being done in the US currently in the Models 60C and 66C Champions. Fewer tires to service and drive chains to wear as well as a shorter turning radius are the obvious advantages. But the first thing that comes to mind is will the 4x4 approximate the traction force of a similar 6x4? I apologize for not posting pics, but the photo function just isn't working for me here. Something about invalid url's. I dunno. Champion has a nice gallery of the 60C w/o front wheel assist and the 66C with front hydraulic assist: http://www.championmotorgraders.us/content/C60-C66-gallery.html
The main drawback with a 4x4 is they are not as stable as a tandem grader, tandem set up makes for smoother finishing, bin there an done that on Aveling Barford 99H graders. Cheers RDG
great stuff! What's the height of this machine and can the cabin be taken off?
The Height is approx.9,6,, and i think the cab cannot be taken off . The machine wil be made in the second halve off 2012 .

New boss so new business stickers.
it looks like the trailer wheels turn to follow truck or is that just the camera angle
The trailer has steered axles.
Interesting to see all the different types of HBM graders Here a link to the biggest one, the BG 240, for mining: http://www.gp.ag/hbm-nobas/Leistungen/Motorgrader/BG-240-T-4-TA-4/

I've long been confused that in the rest of the world graders are used to their full potential. In the US they are only used for pothole removal. Every small town has a grader used to cut out potholes, The very poor towns use them for winter wing work to lower snow banks. It has always seemed to me that a grader is so much more. To see dozer blades pleases me. Here, road crews wait until the flat gravel roads form potholes, then, after the first missing person's report of a Prius, and driver, a long range plan is filed to grade the offending road after thirty days. Ultimately, the offending pothole is graded 6" deep though it is twelve inches deep. This, they say proves grading potholes doesn't work. The pothole is back two days later. One town nearby just lost their road foreman. He graded deep annually, pushing gravel 14" deep to the other side of the road, then back. Ultimately, the whole road was homogenous equally loose gravel which got rolled with a 20 ton vibratory roller. A good crown assured the rain water ran off. After that, his crew went through 3 times a week filling any holes starting to form. You could drive 50 MPH on gravel roads, without any rough ride. Nonetheless, people complained. He quit. There is a lot of know how, and judgement in gravel road maintenance. Too few understand this. A highway needs a hard surface. If one vehicle passes when wet, the seed of a pothole begins to grow. Control is about getting pooled water off quickly. Grading too often wastes the hard surface that develops from traffic. Keeping potholes filled to exclude puddles is an effective defense. Willie
Yes it is interesting to see, that not all countries use the complete functions of a grader. I find it is important, that companys use all the things what a grader can do, because manufacturers has installed a lot of functions, it is very sad, that not all use them... a grader is a strong machine and has a lot of potential - because to ihe functions are not cheap - for example for slopes, cutting a ditch etc. But another idea is, manufacturers offer for people/companys who use a grader only for gravel roads special types with less functions, I think that types are cheaper. When graders have front blade, so companys don't always need a dozer. In Germany have the most graders front blades. I was suprised years ago to see other worlds graders without front blades.....
Here, road beds are built with excavators, and dozers. Roughing to remove unacceptable soil, put in drainage, and place new material is fine that way. Graders don't arrive until very late in the process. For site work graders are seldom seen. Willie
In usual streets for aphalt most time excavators with special part, because to make it good clean .Sometimes road beds in the forest build with excavators too, but some company know that it goes lots of faster with a grader. In Brasilian countries there used often graders for this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF3i0IIMRe4
