I have an older Toro industrial mower with a Mitsubishi L3E engine. Starting is hit and miss. It takes excessive cranking and tons of black smoke. If it starts, the smoke will clear up soon after running. It does not start hot after reaching operating temp. I have replaced the injector nozzles with new, checked glow plugs, reset valve clearance along with re-torque head bolts. It runs good when it runs but sometimes stalls and dies under load. Low compressio? I have a diesel compression test set coming.
