greetings everyone. i have a 120-2 that started blowing fuse to the ec motor, at that time tractor would go to a idle and would not shut off when key is turned off without stalling it out . someone borrowed tractor and while using it the wiring harness behind the seat caught fire, melting wiring and relays. the only power in cab now is to the key switch, tractor will crank but only runs at idle. we took the "cable" loose from the lever near injectors, it seems that the throttle may be adjusted manually, also exaust blows some black smoke at times, and engine tries to run "warm". no temp gauge at the moment. the tractor hasnt been used since finding that throttle might be able to be used manually. my question is, if can control throttle manually (maybe with a PTO cable) and installing a temp gauge can tractor be used without further damage since harness is "fried"? is there a harness to replace the burnt harness availlable?(cost???) any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. thanks!!!!
Hello Plumber. Running the machine with just a manual throttle will not work. The electronics in the cab behind the seat are the brains of your machine and they control pump output, engine power, etc. What will happen if you just run it with a manual throttle is that the pumps will go to full stroke and you will get the black smoke you see and the engine to run hot because they are overloading the engine. You won't be able to feather your controls and the engine will die the moment you try to move one of the controls a little bit. The harnesses to replace your damaged ones are readily available, I just recently completely replaced all of the wiring in my EX200-2 and it wasn't very much work to be honest, I had the whole machine done in 2 days and that included a lot of getting sidetracked with other little things and waiting for part of the harness to arrive. There's a big white plug at or near the floor at the back of the cab where the harness plugs in to the chassis harness. How much of the harness is fried? Is it just in the cab or on the rest of the machine as well? For my entire harness I shelled out $2700 or so, but there's a member here named RGL726 I believe, and he may be able to get you a harness for a better price... I bought mine from Wajax because I needed it right away and they had part of it in stock and were able to get me the other part overnight. If you need to move the machine, walk back to your pumps. If it's like the 200-2 then on the bottom of the pumps you will find a rectangular plate with 4 allen head bolts holding it up. Pull this plate out, and you will find a long pin on it. Turn the plate 180 degrees and stick the pin back up there. You may need to loosen off the small hydraulic line at the top of the pumps to relieve pressure if you can't push the pin and plate back up. What you've just done is to destroke the pumps so that you can move the machine without killing the engine. It will operate very slowly, but it will move. You'll be able to move it around to somewhere you can work on it. You can even do work with it like this but it will drive you crazy how slow it is. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
