Hitachi EX120-3 hydraulics

Have got an old EX120-3 that’s having some hydraulic issues. Slew and track will only operate at normal speed when another function is dead ending causing the pump to pull. Have read before about a conversion from electronic operated pumps to manual, is this something that can be done? Need to get the machine back to work, it’s not handy on the go slow. Thanks

Does work mode selection make any difference in performance ? Are the swing and travel pilot pressure switches working ? With auto idle activated ,check if the engine speed increases when using swing and a track function individually.

This is where it gets tricky. I think the machine may have a bad EC or PVC. The machine stops and starts but the electric throttle doesn’t work. Reading the manual I think they need to talk to each other to then get the hydraulics to work fully. The old boys who digger it is don’t want to spend massive amounts on it so changing these controllers is a no go really unless some cheap aftermarket ones are available. So the work modes change on the dash but not a clue if it actually makes a difference sorry.

How are you controlling the engine speed , with a manual cable ? In regards to overall hydraulic performance , most important function of the ECU is to transmit the engine speed and the EC sensor info to the PVC. With key on, are the EC and PVC red LED’s flashing approximately once per second ? Do you know how to enable the diagnostic flash code sequence ?
