Hi every one, we did some repairs on our cat 312 7dk and now i need to know after howmany hours should we replace this pilot pump hydraulic filter. Already we have completed over 4000 hrs after purchasing this machine as a secondhand one.we didnt replace it yet.we didnt had any issue with it yet.do we need to replace it ? What are the indications or bad affects of malfunctioning filter like this. Thank you.
"Preventive Maintenance" is called that for a reason - it PREVENTS the likelihood of major failures caused by oil contamination. Every 500 hours or 3 months (whichever occurs first) according to the manual. Oil should be changed every 2000 hours or 1 year. Also service the screen inside the hydraulic tank at the same time. Bad effects.? If the filter is plugged and oil is bypassing it, then the oil isn't getting filtered at all, so all the components in the hydraulic system can potentially wear much faster. Is that enough of a "bad effect" for you.?
Thank you sir for your advice.we are going to replace it now.
The other issue from this concerns an operation and maintenance manual. I'm always amazed that a company can pay tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for a machine, but can't afford a basic manual that in most cases is required to be in the machine by safety and governmental entities anyway.
Amazes me too! Some manuals are supplied with it when new. But when you buy machinery, cars, etc. used, they never seem to come with the manuals. How did the previous owners get by without them?? Or what are they keeping them for?? What do they need the manual for if they don't have the machine?? Selling them on Ebay??
I wouldn't imagine it's a government requirement in Sri Lanka where the OP is located...........altough FWIW I agree 100% about manuals, especially when you consider these days a Cat O&M Manual can be downloaded instantantly from the internet for less than $50.
