Hydro leak!

Does anyone know if you can remove the seal on the rod going into the valve body from the control levers without disassembly or removing the valve body? Machine is a early 80's Hitachi UH10, predassesor to the UH122. Valves have a plate with two bolts that look like they retain the seal. Better to ask than to be supprised! Thanks Don:drinkup

Sounds like you don't have pilot operated valves, instead you have cable or linkage controlled valve spools. If so, you should be able to replace spool seals without valve body disassebly. Take the control linkage loose, remove the retainer plate on that end of the spool, see if the seal is under the retainer plate. If so, remove the cetering spring cover on opposite end of spool. Pull entire spool out of valve body. Install new seals on that end of the spool, re-insert spool into valve body, fit new seal on linkage end of spool, install retainer plate. If your valve body uses a seal in a groove inside spool bore, it's a little different process to replace seals.
