In my search for dozers

I see a few older dash -1, D475 and D375's in California that have been repowered by Tier 4 Cat engines ! Seems a bit like lip stick on an old pig so to say. Not sure of the hours they have been used, etc. but again the prices, for really out dated stuff, except for maybe the engine. Just wow. D375 back around 1999 the one place I worked at got 2 -1's for 25K each. I guess the more fatigue and rust etc. the more something is worth? This is a flat out lie. This is a early to mid 70's machine, I had one years ago. Used 1988 Komatsu D155-1 For Sale in Wayne, MI - 5027167077 - Equipment Trader Used 1988 Komatsu D155-1 equipment for sale in Wayne, MI . Almost picked up a PC61? last week. Not too familiar with Kumatzoo was roughly D6 size. 2 of them went for 8k each at RB auction. Probably because good luck finding parts or anyone to work on there vs Deere, CAT or Case. Fairly low hours too.

I work on the old stuff all the time. Just like pulling teeth to get decent parts. Not worth in my opinion. Worked too much on D155a-1 and D355. Hate them now. Simon C

Dealers playing dumb hoping to find suckers that don't know better. Too bad you couldn't charge them for false advertising.

They were careful not to show the steering levers or the hours , by '88 they would be on the side . Salesman probably in short pants when that was new or even in 1988 .

The area around the head lights gave it away. The old ones had it all cast steel, the new ones welded steel. And yes steering levers.

Putting newer model stickers on is common too. Another thing I've seen is shady used equipment dealers putting a much newer year on an ad and then in small print hidden at the end put year unknown.
