Installing Advanced Display on Cat 272D

RDeSmet ยท 2023-03-31 08:15

I was just wondering if anyone has upgraded their standard display to the advanced display on a Cat Skid Loader. Is it just a swap out with the kit, or then do I need a dealer or someone to do some programming to enable the advanced display?? Also is having the advanced display all I need to enable some features like creep mode, and adjust sensitivities??

Please post a Serial Number so that the correct installation instructions for your machine can be located.

Here are the installation instructions. An HEF member recently purchased a used instrument panel (could have been a 543-1326 or maybe one of the many earlier P/Ns of panel) from a dealer. He also bought a creeper switch which is the only other hardware required. That made the whole thing plug & play because the Advanced Display panel was already configured. Here is the thread in question. Start from page 2. Cat 299C speed sensor troubleshooting Hello, this is my first time here and I would appreciate any help folks have to offer. I'm a farmer and just bought a 299C (JSP02021) to use on our farm and possibly replace our old 931B track loader. It has 6k hours on it, but seems well maintained and more importantly was in my price range... HeavyEquipmentForums

And yes, I know it was a C-Series machine in the linked thread and not a D, but the same general principles still apply. Install a used display panel and because it is already has software installed it does not require flashing. The D-Series machine does not require the crepper switch. Below is a list of parts contained in the 568-2041 Kit. The 378-1036 Electronics Group is the software that has to be installed in the 543-1326 Control Gp (RH Panel) in order to make it work.

It may also depend on the Part Number of the display you purchased. Download the pdf document attached to Post #4 above. It may give you few ideas.

Thanks Nige, i ended up getting one that did power up and everything works as it should other than when i turn the key off the display will power up for 10 seconds and then turn off for ten seconds. It repeats this until i disconnect the battery. What could be the cause of this.

Sounds as though the second display is also defective. When you turn off the key the display should turn off as well - and stay off. The only thing to check is whether the ignition power wire (pin 2 I think) goes dead when you turn off the key. IIRC Pin 1 is permanent battery power.
