JD 319D, hydraulic tank overfilling with oil when machine is shut down???

Strange one... Customer tells me that Hydraulic oil dribbles out of the hydraulic tank breather when the engine is shut off. I haven't yet seen the machine. Anyone ever experience this? I'm not very familiar with the Deere system and want to know where to start..The machine is a 310D. Thanks, Tony

Wonder if it's dribbling, or turning to mist in the tank and building up in the filter material of the vent? Unless it's been overfilled, it shouldn't be getting to the vent?? Strange.....

we've got a 621 that does the same thing. we just learned to live with it. we've replaced the lids, breathers, and even the whole tank.

Only time we have this problem is when there is a heat source or something left on the tank with a little to much oil in it.

Tony said when the machine was shut down. Is the bucket or front bucket left up in the air??

Does he have the proper spec'd fluid in it? if not it could be foaming.

Most machine specs call for the attachments to be in a certain position to set the level in the hydraulic tank. I remember the Case 480 we had in the Seabees had to have the backhoe stretched straight out on the deck and the bucket flat on the grauond to get the tank level set right. Check with the manufacturer.
