JD 326e low voltage

Jason McClure ยท 2021-10-27 11:49

We have a 326e JD skid steer, keeps showing low voltage code swapped batteries and is pulling 13 volts at battery and alternator but still showing codes. What are your thoughts?

Check cables for any problems and is alternator working properly?

Complete serial number? Post the code you have.

The alternator seems to be working properly and cables have no degradation and everything is tight waiting to get the code back, 1TO326EKTGJ293578

13 volts running is too low. Should be pretty close to 14V. Check the voltage at all the connectors on the alternator, if it's not getting the signal voltage from ignition, it won't charge. If it is getting voltage from ignition, alternator is bad. then you could diagnose the alternator if you want, and it's original, if it's already an aftermarket, then just get another one.

On your battery positive post there is a smaller wire crimped into the positive clamp with the main positive battery wire. Give that wire a tug to see if it is loose or pops out of the clamp. If secure follow that wire to a single pin connector and make sure that connector does not have corrosion. That wire supplies unswitched voltage to all the controllers and if there is resistance in that wire it will throw a low voltage code.
