I was changing out my oil on the front axle yesterday and to my surprise it was a heavy gear oil instead of hydraulic oil as the operator's manual states.I found a little different maintenance description on line that says the original fill is GL5 gear oil and then hyd. oil after that which is what I installed.Anybody know the reasoning behind this and/or if ZF also recommends hyd. oil?I have a feeling Nortrax didn't change the oil at the 1K hr. mark as they were supposed to from the warranty policy as now at 2700 hrs.[my first changeout since I've owned it],that oil was very FUGLY.
