Customer has a 450C that is losing hyd oil out of tank and gaining engine oil in crankcase. Took a quick look today but didn't see where the two could mix. Any suggestions would be appreciated
Hi, I think you'll find the hydraulic function pump is bolted to the front of the engine and shaft seal is probably leaking into the crankcase. Good luck Andrew
Hydraulic pump for blade or loader, if it is a track loader is connected to the front of the engine by a spline shaft and coupler. There is no seal between the pump and the engine because they are not direct connected. In my experience 450C's are notorious for hydraulc leaks in the line which draws oil from the reservoir which is located on the right side of the operator seat and runs up along the frame of the tractor to the pump which is in front of the radiator. That can explain the loss of hydraulic but not the increase of oil in the crankcase. Sounds to me like it has to be coming from the transmission and steering clutch housing some place. Oil from the transmission and steering clutch would have to get out of that compartment through the dry clutch housing and through the rear main seal of the engine. I am not sure if there is an oil cooler which could some how get it in to the engine or not. Hope this helps you
