The front loader or the backhoe ?

The backhoe its the hoses from the backhoe to the control valves

I DONT EVEN KNOW IF THE VALVES ARE IN THE RIGHT ORDER ITS A OLDER TRACTOR PROABLY MID 70s

four levers or two wobble sticks going to four valve sections? Post a picture and somebody should be able to tell you what each operates. Then as long as the hoses are loose only at the valve end, you should be able to see which goes to which side based on the lengths and fittings orientation. pull back is up/closer, forward is down/further.

Trace all the hoses to their location on the all the cylinders and label them at the valve end. As an example remove the two hoses from the bucket curl valve, now connect the two hoses you just labeled for the bucket and hook them up to that same bucket valve. Start the machine and operate the valve , you have a 50/50 chance the bucket will go the correct way. If it is backwards just reverse the hoses. By the way it looks in your photo you may be lucky and only those easy to get at rearward hoses are misplaced.

problem is the hoses from control valve to the backhoe connect to a row of fittings and u cant tell which ones go to which cylinder

Have you used them the way they are now ? are any of the valves working correctly ? Were all 13 hoses disconnected when you started ? Here is a link to the parts manual --------> http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/...s.HomePageServlet_Alt?search=model&model=510D Hopefully you can go there and find the hose routing. This is one of the many diagrams available there. I don't which backhoe you have , but at the bottom of the index you can see where to find it.

As the OP posted, it's a straight 510 so we're all on the same page, not a 510D, that's been confusing for at least thirty years now. Looking at the picture of the valve bank, we're concerned with the middle three valve sections, one the left end is the inlet/outlet cap, a stabilizer valve, and then in order: Dipper/Bucket/Boom and on the right end there's the swing and another stabilizer valve. What I would do at this point, and I know it's not easy, is find pairs of hoses, the boom cylinder for instance connects to the two bulges off the back of the manifold. Remove all the valve side hoses from the manifold, disconnect one boom cylinder hose, blow low pressure air back through the passage and mark it. Connect one of the boom valve hoses, do the other boom hose, etc. Here's the picture, might help:

ok thank you very much i will give a try this weekend

As an alternative to taking the hoses off, use another machine, (or a come along, chain, and vehicle) to pull on each function one direction at a time, then see which valve direction releases the pressure. So start with the stick, put some pressure on it with a come along to stretch it out, then go back to the valves and move them one at a time to see which one releases the pressure, take notes and you should be able to figure it out in one round. IF there's air, they might act different, but you should hear the air release, or oil gurgling when you move the right valve.

yes i tried them one way the hydralic pump when engaged kill the engine but while it ran the stablizers worked great .then i tried another way and the tractor kept runing and the stablizers work the boom worked but was very slow and weak.

The upside down photo of the serial number plate is clearly showing 510D.

Indeed you are correct, and as a young mechanic I made the same error, asking the Deere parts dude for a starter for a 510D. At that point the 510C was just coming out so they easily corrected me. It's a straight 510, the "-D" indicated Diesel or Dubuque I can't recall for sure. To verify it, the actual much newer 510D has separate backhoe control and stabilizer valves, not all in one stack like this machine. Thus my rather cryptic remark about "been confusing for at least thirty years now" Cheers

I made up this group of John Deere models a few years ago. Although it is not of the 510, the 310,410 and 510 all look about the same from a distance. You will easily see that the D model does not look the same as the older models.

Good information Lantraxco. I didn't take any of your post as a "cryptic" remark. I took another look at the parts book for fallicd and found more hose details in the main hydraulic section, of which I am posting a picture of.
