Had a swing gear box problem with my 1989 690 d $8500 for part half the value of the machine. Service manager at Deere had a problem with deeres design of lubrication the swing drive with hyd oil. My question is, is this machine inherently a bad design and needs to find new home or is it normal wear and deserves another chance, it looked like this Had been replaced once before. The use is on a farm 50 to 100 hrs yearly.
Have you tried to get a price for getting it rebuilt compared to new.
Haven't looked at that yet but will salvage yard was 5100 oem is better in my book. Priced parts when he was North of 10k I had him stop looking. Thanks for the thought.
Have you looked to see what the problem is?
Yes ring gear is chewed up
Pinion gear also?
Pinio gear is ok but and not part of the parts cost
Is it the ring gear on the rotec? (big thing the machine rotates on) I don't think you will find a Deere mechanic anywhere that has anything good to say about the 690D or the 690E.
No it was the ring gear on the gear box itself. Have you any idea of the major complaints from mechanics with this machine .
It was the drive unit ring gear not the rotec . I would like to know what then major complaint are this thing might be in loose hands.
