I have a 2013 jd410k with a problem connector on the fuel rail pressure switch. I got this machine with about 1500 hrs on it and have had this problem since day one. Jd had the machine back (under warranty) and replaced the switch, which worked for a few hundred hrs. Since then (about 4 yrs ago) completely at random it will start sending codes to do with either to low or to high fuel rail pressure this usually ends up putting the bh in an engine derated mode. If i touch the connector the idle changes, the alarm stops and the codes are stored but inactive, so all is well until the process repeats at some random time. By random i mean it has been 2 yrs and about 2000 hrs since it acted up and this morning i had to remove the harness mounting bolts (and the cable tie i had added to keep pressure on the plug) inspect everything and reassemble now she works fine. My question is, has anyone had any experience with this connection and found a solution. It seems like a very poor design as it relies on the wiring harness to keep pressure on the plug. Thanks for reading...
You found the problem area it appears. Now find the actual fault. Does the harness plug pull out of the sensor body? Check for broken retaining teets and tangs. Check that the wires are not pulled out of the plug or pulled out of the metal pin that is in the plug. You have to pull on them carefully. Check that the female part of this connection is tight. Check for corrosion. Carefully check the the wires for a damage. Flex them some a broken or damaged one should feel soft.
Welcome to HEF DW ! The terminals for those plugs at the rail sensor are available. Need the S/N though.
Thank you for the replies and the welcome, Thats what i have, The retainer on the plug will not engage. The wire at the plug has been over stressed but i dont believe the wires are broken. The terminals are clean, tight in the plug and dont appear to be distorted or damaged. When everything is assembled the main harness holds the plug almost fully seated. So i suppose my only solution is to fabricate something to hold the plug on or replace the plug and possibly the sensor. Is the plug available or do i have to find a used one Thanks in advance
Ty mg2361......I will get those ordered........thinking i will have to remove the harness to install those but at least i can add a few inches of wire so it should last. Thank you again
