my tractor seems to be slipping really bad, really bad in high gears, broke it into today, the clutch on the flywheel looks great, noticed it was a little wet , but there wasn't any great deal of oil in the belly of bell housing area, replaced the seal on the throw out bearing support housing, noticed when it was off I could look up inside the trains. housing a saw what looked like a clutch basket, is that the shuttle shift reverser clutch, or id call the shuttle shift, forward an reverser, can it be removed from the throw out bearing support removed , wandering if I had to split the front half of the trains. off the rear axle housing in order to get clutch packs out. hopefully want have machine in a million parts.

Yes, and had a lengthy discussion on the reverser clutch pack removal on page 13 "JD 310A how do you remove the pickup pump in tranny?" The forward clutch pack is within the bell housing and can be rebuilt from where you are. The reverse clutch is behind the wall within the center section which has to be removed from rear end to work over. Pull up the parts schematic on JD's parts site. It is same transmission and reverser setup as used in the farm tractors like a 2350 with a power shuttle shift.
