The tachometer died on my 1991 JD 310C and i cant seem to find any info on it anywhere. I figure it must be electronically driven because when i turn the key into the ON position the needle in the gauge flickers, but then once started the needle does nothing. Any tips or pointers on areas to look or know how it is driven? I dont want to start ripping apart the interior panel if its potentially a disconnected wire or something. Thanks
Tach signal comes from the alternator. Machine serial # ?
The serial number is *T0310CF771481*
See schematic screenshot below. .
I have to be honest i hate wiring diagrams. Is there a fuse in line between the positive on the tach and the alternator? If yes would that fuse be under the panel on the right side of the interior where all the lights are?
The hour meter portion only is powered by the 5 amp Monitor fuse. It’s the bottom right corner in the fuse box . See screenshot of tach/ hour meter verbage from the manual.
Thank you Diesel Dave, Hopefully i can get at it this weekend and see what's going on. From your posts i believe it would be purple wire 309 from R terminal
