John Deere 310SG wiring harness issue

Brewery mechanic · 2024-10-09 21:03

Good evening all, I have a 310SG that I am experiencing an issue with the parking brake not unlocking and thus the tractor not moving /going into gear. It is equipped with a powershift transmission. I have bought the troubleshooting manual and gone all the way through the process (literally step by step) by the manual to the point of performing the parking brake pressure test and then performing the system pressure tests. Along the way, while systematically testing the electrical side of the tranny, while testing the transmission solenoid diodes, i found two diodes that have been removed from the system and the wires butt connected and then taped up. Upon learning the importance of the diodes to the operation of the solenoids and the protection of the electrical circuitry, I am currently searching for the diode sockets that were cut off of the wiring harness. New wiring harnesses run in the neighborhood of $1400.00 and I am not spending $1400.00 for 2 small connectors. It is my hopes that someone on this blog might know of someone who would have a used engine wiring harness for a 310SG laying around their shop. I would gladly pay something acceptable for the harness and of course the shipping. Thank you for your time. The brewery mechanic

I believe the diodes you are missing are (AT103399 diode connector) the diode looks to just have SAE 2 pin connectors on it. You should easily be able to source these from any online retailer.

Thanks for the reply. The picture of the diode is correct, I have sourced them at my local dealer. However, the picture of the harness connector you provided is not what the tractor has. These connectors have three (3) wires, a positive, a negative, and then a "line" wire going to whatever solenoid is receiving the power. They only come installed in the harness, not as separate items. That is my dilemma Thanks again for the reply

I only need two (2) items from one of these harnesses, the diode connector that needs to be cut from the old harness, or the complete harness. Thanks again.

Will a three way flat molded connector work on it?

  5. #5Brewery mechanic2024-10-10 08:36

No, internally, the connector is wired to operate the diode. three (3) wires in, but only two (2) posts on the diode.

  6. #6Tinkerer2024-10-10 08:54

Is this what you are needing ? Maybe ?

  7. #7Brewery mechanic2024-10-10 08:58

The item number targets just the diodes, not the connector that is attached to the harness. Thanks

  8. #8Acecadet2024-10-10 09:12

Couldn’t you just connect the wires upstream, line and positive, and still get the end result of a diode for suppression?

  9. #9Brewery mechanic2024-10-10 09:57

That, I am not sure of.
