Hello members, anyone out there that can help an old timer with the old horse chocking after a few hours of work... our Khoering 1986 has the engine almost dying after a few hours of work. we don't know if its fuel starvation and or hydraulic load bogging engine down. we have not changed the 145 micron filter in a long time. would that do it? any advice or things to try to diagnose will help this old cowboy and his old horse which I need to keep going for another few years....

My limited experience with the old diesels says they don't need much to work right. Here's what I'd do, someone probably has a better plan out there... I'd start with the air filter. Then changing fuel filters. There is probably a fine mesh screen in addition to a filter somewhere in the system. Maybe in the primer pump. You might need to clean out the tank if there crud or water in there. Changing the oil if it's old never hurts. Check coolant/radiator. Then check compression. Then fuel pressure and injectors. Good luck!
