Hi james..for that electrical trouble u must doing an electrical voltage check (with multitester or avometer). Check ur battery, battery relay, Fuses. Also u must check B terminal on starting switch then C terminal when u turn the key to start position. Next, check the B terminal on starting motor ( must be 24V when starting switch turn to ON), then make sure there is 24V too on C terminal when u turn the starting swith to start.hope it help

Komatsu D37p-2 starting issues Thanks for the information... I did each step you requested and found the starter relay burnt on the starter side so I replaced it and same thing happened so I jumped the R terminal to the starter solenoid and it won't engage starter in the crank position but it will engage when you turn key to heat glow plugs.

Based on ur info, i think there is some mistakes on ur starting switch connections. Normally, starting motor will engage with turning the key to start position. Starting switch had 6 terminal, which B for battery +24, BR for battery relay, R1 for glow plug, R2 not use, C for starting motor and ACC for the accecories. I suggest to recheck ur connection. For the starting motor, it had 3 terminal, which B for battery (direct +24), S from the starting switch C terminal and R from the R terminal of alternator (this is for safety relay cut off funtion of starting motor when engine run). Normally, R terminal is 2-4 V when starting ON then 24 V when engine run. Recheck all ur starting system wiring connections again..hope it help
